MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Skylights should be inspected periodically and any build-up of leaves and rubbish removed from around the skylight at time intervals depending upon the severity of the problem.

The external metal surfaces should be dusted and wiped with a damp cloth to ensure that any build-up or caked dust is removed which could hold moisture and cause premature corrosion of metal components.

Regent skylights are manufactured form Zincalume® sheet and Hi-impact Acrylic glazing. I draw to your attention the accompanying recommended cleaning method for glazing supplied by K LITE and and refer you to Technical Bulletin TB-4 as supplied by BHP Steel for maintenance of metal. Reference should be made tp Pilkington Glass for care and cleaning of glass.

The hatch should be inspected periodically and any build-up of leaves and rubbish removed from around the skylight at time intervals depending upon the severity of the problem.

The external metal surfaces should be dusted and wiped with a damp cloth to ensure that any build-up or caked dust is removed which could hold moisture and cause premature corrosion of metal components.

The hatch hinge should be oiled lightly annually or more often is so indicated.

The gas struts require inspection annually to ensure that the weight of the hatch lid is adequately supported and when struts show weakness, replaced with struts of the same specifications.

Replacement gas struts are available from Regent Skylight Systems Pty Ltd.

NYLEX ACRYLEX ACRYLIC SHEET

Cleaning: Abrasives will scratch the surface of ACRYLEX . Cleaning is best achieved with a soft damp cloth or chamois, using a gentle wiping action. A detergent solution of lukewarm water is also effective. For stubborn spots, Hexane, Kerosene or Isopropyl Alcohol can be applied and then washed off with large amounts of water. Do not use gritty cloths, window cleaning compounds or fluids, scouring compounds or chemicals that will attack the product.

Polishing: The application of a surface wax, e.g. Automotive wax, can lessen both cleaning and scratching problems. Fine surface scratches can be removed by using soft flannel pads and polishing compounds, such as Novus Plastic Polish No. 2 and Meguiars Clear Plastic Cleaner. It should be noted that polishing can actually increase dirt collection because of the formation of surface static charges. Antistatic cleaners such as Novus Plastics Polish number.
